The Drummer Owns The Name
I went to see my favourite band, back together again,
But as they stood there on the stage, it didn’t seem the same,
Most of them there were session men, paid to play the game,
And take us once around the block, the drummer owns the name.
The drummer owns the name
The guitarist wrote the music that took the group to fame,
The singer penned the lyrics that won grammys and acclaim,
But none of them are speaking now, it really is a shame,
It’s in the hands of lawyers now, the drummer owns the name.
Well look what they became, those cars, hotels and dames,
With twelve-step plan re-hab, you can’t regain the flame.
The story is a sad one, but no one should be blamed,
A life under the spotlight, can be full of drugs and shame,
The bassist has a book out soon, in which he will proclaim,
He’s in the hands of Jesus now, the drummer owns the name,
